LANPEC, formerly known as the Lanzhou Petroleum Machinery Research Institute (LPMRI), served as the national technical authority for the petroleum drilling and production machinery, as well as the petrochemical equipment industries in China. LPMRI was a pioneer in China's petroleum and petrochemical equipment sector, a trailblazer for China's offshore and desert petroleum exploration, and holds significant influence within the industry.
LANPEC is the host organization for the Heat Exchanger Subcommittee, the Mobile Pressure Vessel Subcommittee, and the Cryogenic Vessel Subcommittee of the National Technical Committee for Standardization of Boilers and Pressure Vessels. It serves as the Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, or Secretary-General unit for nine committees, including the Petroleum Drilling Machinery Committee of the China Petroleum and Petrochemical Equipment Industry Association (CPEIA), while also participating in 28 other industry technical associations (societies). LANPEC publishes the industry core journals Petroleum Field Machinery and Petrochemical Equipment. The company undertakes multiple responsibilities, including drafting, revising, and promoting industry standards, product safety certification and review. To date, LANPEC has drafted, revised, or formulated over 80 categories and 430 items of national standards, industry standards, and local standards.
